# Low Stock Alerts

## How to Get Low Stock Alerts

#### Set up Safety Stock

**Safety stock** is the minimum quantity of an item you want to keep in stock to avoid stockouts. You can set this up to monitor your inventory levels.

* Go to <mark style="color:$primary;">`Other Features`</mark> > <mark style="color:$primary;">`Low Stock Alerts`</mark>.
* Click <mark style="color:$primary;">`Set up Safety Stock`</mark>.

#### Add a Numerical Attribute

Safety stock requires an [attribute](/docs/concepts/attributes.md#types-of-attributes) with a numerical value. If you don't have one already, add one and give it a relevant name (e.g. "Safety Stock," "Minimum Quantity," "Warehouse Reorder Level").

#### Enter Quantities

After adding the Safety stock attribute, click on <mark style="color:$primary;">`Edit`</mark> to to enter the desired amount of safety stock for each item.

To **bulk edit** safety stock quantities via **Excel**:

* Navigate to <mark style="color:$primary;">`Data Center`</mark> > <mark style="color:$primary;">`Items`</mark> > <mark style="color:$primary;">`Import from Excel`</mark>.
* Choose <mark style="color:$primary;">`Edit via Excel`</mark> to download your existing data into Excel.
* Map the safety stock attribute column and upload the file with your updated numbers.

If you set the **safety stock** to **0**, you’ll get a notification when the item is out of stock.

#### Monitor Low Stock Items

After setting safety stock quantities, you can easily check for items with low stock.

## Notification Settings

To receive alerts when stock falls below the safety stock quantities, you must enable app notifications in your settings.

Go to <mark style="color:$primary;">`Settings`</mark> > <mark style="color:$primary;">`Notifications`</mark>.

* **Push Notifications:** Toggle to **ON** to receive mobile app notifications.
* **Alert Locations:** If managing multiple locations, you can choose to receive alerts for specific locations only.
* **Alert Times:** Set a preferred time to receive notifications.

If you’re not receiving alerts even though your notifications are turned on, please check your phone’s app notification settings.

Any changes you make will **only apply to your account** and will not affect other team members. Each user can set their own preferences for receiving low stock alerts.&#x20;

## Location-specific Settings

If you're using multiple locations, you can receive low stock alerts for a specific site or area. Add a safety stock attribute for each location and set the quantity individually.

* **All Locations**: Sums inventory across all sites
* **Specific Location**: Tracks individual site levels

After setting up safety stock for each location, each member can individually configure alerts for their desired locations under <mark style="color:$primary;">`Settings`</mark> > <mark style="color:$primary;">`Notifications`</mark>.
