Barcode Scan & Count Privacy Policy

Barcode Scan & Count (“the app”) is provided by BGPworks, Inc. (“we,” “us”), the maker of BoxHero. This policy covers the app only. The BoxHero service is covered by the BoxHero Privacy Policy.

What we collect

The app has no accounts and does not ask for your name, email, or contacts.

If you choose to send scan photos (on first launch or in Settings), the app sends the following each time you press the scan button:

• Scan photos: up to two camera images from that scan.
• Scan diagnostics: technical data about the scan, such as timing, whether a barcode was read, the barcode type, camera settings (exposure, focus, zoom, flash), device model, OS version, and app version.

We do not collect the barcode values you scan. We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location. Your scan list and counts stay on your device.

Scan photos show whatever the camera sees, which may include product labels, shipping labels, documents, or people. Please avoid pointing the camera at personal information you do not want to share.

How we use it

Only to improve barcode recognition: measuring how well the scanner works, and building data to train and test our recognition models. People on our team may look at photos to label the barcodes in them. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.

Where it is stored

Data is stored with Cloudflare, Inc. (United States), which processes it only on our behalf.

How long we keep it

We keep scan photos and diagnostics for up to 3 years from collection, then delete them. We delete them sooner when they are no longer needed.

Your choices

• If you choose not to send scan photos, you can still use the app and nothing is sent.
• You can turn sending on or off anytime in Settings > Send scan photos.
• To ask us to delete data you sent, email us. Photos are not linked to you, so include the approximate date and time of your scans and your device model so we can find them.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
